AN EASTER REFLECTION
Submitted by padreyroq on Mon, 04/09/2007 - 1:31amSome time after we have been bereaved, they tell us, we need "closure": that is, we need to leave the painful event in the past, and though we will never cease to love our departed relative or friend, we have to get on with our life. This process begins with the funeral; "we bring the body of our brother or sister to its place of rest," as the funeral liturgy says. In a strange way, that place of rest is a place of rest for us too. It is painful and yet it is a comfort to visit the grave: our sorrow is able to focus itself there.
